Skydiving school according to USPA standards
USPA FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions about USPA) provides answers to common questions about USPA training.
What is USPA and USPA skydiving training?
USPA (United States Parachute Association) is a leading and respected organization that oversees and regulates skydiving activities in the United States and in all member countries that choose to operate according to USPA standards. Its role is to ensure safety and standardization in skydiving training and operations.
USPA skydiving training includes various programs for individuals who want to become qualified skydivers. These programs range from beginner training to advanced programs for experienced skydivers. USPA also sets training standards and issues licenses, ratings, and certificates to jumpers who successfully complete the training program.
What is ISP (Integrated Student Program)?
Regardless of the training method (Static Line, IAD, AFF), the USPA Integrated Student Program (ISP) guides students through eight skill categories (A–H) to qualify them for the USPA A skydiving licence.
Each student must complete a series of required exercises and tasks during training in each category. At the end of each category, students from any training discipline achieve comparable skills and knowledge. The number of jumps required per category depends on the training method and the student’s performance.
Once a student meets the requirements for each category, a USPA instructor records this in the student’s documentation (USPA Proficiency Card) and A licence requirements, and conducts an oral exam. Especially in categories A–D, students should complete all objectives of one category before progressing to the next.
Which training method do you use?
Tandem Experti use the AFF (Accelerated Freefall) training method to provide an intensive and efficient learning experience. This method enables students to gain independence in freefall more quickly through advanced techniques and direct instructor support. Unlike traditional methods, AFF includes multiple freefalls and jumps from maximum altitude from the start, allowing faster skill acquisition and confidence building. Our instructors guide each student throughout the process, ensuring safe and high-quality learning.
How can I apply for AFF skydiving training?
Fill out the application form and wait for our instructors to contact you. It may take a few days after submission before you receive a response.
How long does USPA AFF training take?
Training for the USPA A licence depends on organizational and financial factors and can take anywhere from 10 days to several months.
What is the cost of USPA skydiving training?
For current pricing, please refer to our training price list.
Are there specific requirements for participation?
- Good understanding of English (all official literature is in English)
- USPA membership with a valid member number
- Weight limit: candidates over 100 kg cannot participate
- Good physical condition
- Minimum LAPL medical certificate
Where is the training conducted?
Training location and schedule may vary and are arranged individually. Typical locations include Zagreb, Varaždin, and Čakovec.
What should I bring on the first day of training?
You must bring a physical copy of the SIM (Skydiver’s Information Manual). It can be downloaded for free from the USPA website or ordered in print. It is also available through our team for an additional fee. A valid medical certificate (minimum LAPL) is required before your first jump.
Are there age restrictions?
Minimum age is 18. Candidates aged 16–17 may participate with written parental consent. There is no strict upper limit, but it depends on physical and mental fitness.
Is a medical examination required?
Yes. Candidates must obtain a referral from a general practitioner and complete a medical examination at an authorized aviation medical center (listed by the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency).
Can I jump independently after completing training?
Yes. After obtaining the USPA A licence, you can jump independently without instructor supervision.
What are the requirements for obtaining the USPA “A” licence?

- Meet all requirements listed on the USPA Proficiency Card
- Perform 5 group jumps with at least two participants
- Pass written and oral exams conducted by a USPA instructor, examiner, S&TA, judge, or board member
How physically demanding is AFF training?
AFF requires basic physical fitness but is not limited to athletes. Coordination, ability to follow instructions, and mental stability are more important than strength.
What if I don’t pass a level on the first attempt?
The jump is repeated with additional instructor support. The goal is safe and proper skill acquisition, not speed of progression.
Is equipment included?
Yes. All necessary equipment is provided and meets USPA and CCAA safety standards.
Can I start AFF after only doing a tandem jump?
Yes. A tandem jump is not required but can help familiarize you with the environment and freefall experience.
In which language is training conducted?
Training is conducted in Croatian or English. Official USPA materials are available only in English.
How often do students jump?
Multiple jumps per day are possible in good conditions, but training pace is always adjusted for safety and individual progress.
What happens after obtaining the A licence?
You can jump independently, participate in group jumps, rent equipment, and progress toward higher USPA licences.
Is there a time limit for completing AFF?
No strict deadline, but continuity is recommended. Long breaks may require repeating certain parts for safety reasons.
Is AFF training safe?
Yes. AFF is one of the safest entry methods into skydiving, conducted under strict supervision and standardized safety procedures.
Can I continue training and jumping abroad?
Yes. USPA licences are recognized worldwide in dropzones that follow USPA standards.
Can I perform tandem jumps with an A licence?
No. You must obtain a USPA Tandem Instructor rating.

All requirements are defined in the USPA SIM and IRM manuals available on the USPA website.
How many USPA courses do you run per year?
Courses are organized based on demand and suitable weather and operational conditions.
